How often does this happen I wonder?

'When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,' says the LORD Almighty. (Zechariah 7:13)

Wow that IS so true, that we don't listen to God sometimes, but do you think that this verse in Zachariah is still true after Christ's coming? And what about second Timothy two thirteen? And Acts two twenty-one? I thought there was somewhere in scripture that Jesus says, "Draw near to me and I will draw near to you" but I can't find it now. Do you know where it's found?

Totally off topic: I love first Corinthians seven five, that we are tempted when we lack self-control!

James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." But I have begun to question things a little more over the last couple months. Perhaps what is said here only applies until what is said in Zech. comes into play.

2Tim. 2:13 "If we are faithless, He remains faithful...".
He is faithful and loving through His discipline as well. When He calls us again and again and tells us that certain things will happen if we don't (ie. Him not listening to us), then He needs to remain faithful to what He has said.

When (in Zech.) it says "when they called", I believe it was not a humble calling (as in 2Chronicles 7:14), but a slefish calling. If it was a humble calling (Acts 2:21 would fit here too), I do believe that God would listen.

I think God does listen to any calling really, especially now since He sent His son. I think that was the purpose of His son, that is to do away with the old testament and the sacrafical reaching out to Him. Now we can just call on His name no matter what we've done.
